MORE ABOUT MERRILL
I’m a Senior at Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall in Milford, CT. I have so many interests, but I care the most about my dogs, my family, horseback riding, my education and simply doing the best I can.
Being successful is important to me and so finding balance in my life (i.e. balancing all of my commitments so I have time to focus on each thing). I try to make time to have fun as much as I can and embrace my childhood while balancing my responsibilities.
Also of importance to me is cherishing the time that I have, my childhood and what’s left of it. I really do try to embrace each day because I know that I’ll be an adult longer than I’ll be a kid. I didn’t have this awareness when I was younger, but high school certainly brought this on.
I began this website because I wanted to share my journey to anyone that might find it helpful. I was diagnosed with several learning differences from a very early age. Consequently, I acted out in unpredictable ways. This began a decade-long journey between my parents and I of trying to understand what was going on and how to best manage it. Together, my parents and I have learned so much.
My goal for this publication is to deepen your insight into what is going on with your child by sharing my journey and insight, as well as tips on communication with your child.
When I was younger I used to act out a lot because of my learning differences, and it was hard for my parents to really understand what was going on and why I was acting how I was. However, I was fortunate enough that my parents received help from knowledgeable individuals who introduced us to resources that turned my life around. Looking back on my childhood I feel it would have been useful for them to have a source like this, because it could’ve helped them understand how I was feeling.
HI, I'M MERRILL. NICE TO MEET YOU!
